Easter Story Cookies

Gary and I are doing are best to stay away from the Easter bunny. A bunny just does not make sense on the greatest day given to us by our savior. Don't get me wrong we do allow the kids to think there is a Santa. We tell the kids that Jesus loved us so much he gave us all a little Santa in our selves because He wants everyone to have a present on His birthday. But a rabbit and chocolate eggs just don't make a whole lot of sense when you think of the pain and anguish Jesus went thru on the cross. This is the most precious gift given and this gift needs to be respected!
As soon as the kids come downstairs Easter morning we'll unseal the oven and break open our Easter Story cookies--which will be hollow and empty just like the tomb. The tomb is empty, because Jesus conquered sin and death and is alive!

Easter Story Cookies

1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp. vinegar
3 eggs whites (room temperature)
pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
a Bible

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Place pecans in a baggie and let your children beat them with a wooden spoon to break them into small pieces.
Explain that after Jesus was arrested, Roman soldiers beat him. Read John 19:1-3.

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into a mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.

Add egg whites to the vinegar.
Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave his life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11.

Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it, then brush the rest into the bowl.
Salt represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.

So far, the ingredients aren't very appetizing. Add 1 cup of sugar.
The sweetest part of the Easter story is that Jesus died because he loves us. He wants to us to know him and belong to him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16.

Beat with a mixer on high until mixture turns white and stiff peaks form.
The color white represents the purity of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3.

Fold in the broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto a lined baking sheet.
Each mound represents the rock tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matthew 27:57-60.

Put the baking sheet into the oven, close the door, and turn the oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matthew 27:65-66.

Go to bed.
Explain that they may feel sad to leave cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were sad when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20-22.

On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow!
On the first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read John 20:1-8.

Last time until 2012

If it was not close to 11:30pm I would have found the camera and took a picture of Lilly laying on the front lawn looking thru the binoculars, I just did not have the energy! HA~HA!!
Things I do for my babies! Had to wake Lilly the space cadet up to show her Mars...This is the last night to see it until 2012! She was totally a sleep but I knew if I did not take her out she would wake up in the morning and be disappointed. She looked thru the binoculars for about fifteen minutes. She and I were laying in the front yard at 11:15pm looking at the sky! I tell ya, the things we do for our kids!! :-) She is the only four year old I know that is content at watching the NASA channel!

Our family Believes In Christ and Trusts Only In Him

God has the wisdom and power to orchestrate the evil of Man to the triumph of His holy will in history. It is not for us to question His ways. Rather, it is for us to trust Him.

Please join our family in prayer for our country.

Lord Jesus, look with mercy on those who rule
over us. Grant to our President and his administration the grace to know
and do your will. Let them serve all their subjects in truth and righteousness.
Inspire our Congressmen with the courage to make laws for the good of all
rather than the few. Give our Judges your Spirit of wisdom and understanding
that they may discern the truth and impartially administer the law.
And let all the people pitch in to make our way of government
continue to work. Amen.

Bad Dog!

The other night after bath time Owen ran to his room. After a minute or so I went in to get his pj's for bed time and noticed the little dog and the puddle. I thought it was funny so before I asked any questions I had Gary come see and took a picture. Gary called Owen in his room and asked if he peed on the floor. He said no the doggie did..... Gary asked Owen again if he peed on the floor and said yes and Lilly put the doggie on it. So we called Lilly in and she said I did not want Owen to get in trouble it was just an accident. I am glad they love each other!

Grand Prix

Gary and the kids had a great time building the cars for the grand prix races. The kids were involved in all steps making the cars, and got to play with some fun tools in the shop! Lilly won 3rd place and got a trophy! They both came home with ribbons and certificates. Owen was super excited just to have his little car back!

“You can see God from anywhere if your mind is set to love and obey Him”

“You can see God from anywhere if your mind is set to love and obey Him”

Gary and I believe this with all our hearts. We know that the good, bad and ugly always have a reason, and in everything the light of God. Weather we are at home with the kids, with family, friends or even working we can see the light God has given us to do His work. We have learned freedom, and it can only come from Him. A freedom that can not ever be taken away.

Spring Break

I’m morning Spring Break... We had such a great time from movies to Denver and Salida. Thankful summer is right around the bend.
