My Prayer

Even as an adult I have moments in my life where I care what others think. Even when I tell my kids to be Godly leaders there are times when I find myself following.
Knowing who I am in The Lord is all that matters. Constantly dying to myself and taking up my own cross and being who I am in Christ is beyond important.

My devotion this evening was so simple. Remember who I am in Jesus.

And my prayer tonight:

Lord empty me of the selfishness inside. Every vain ambition and the poison of my pride.

Lord empty me of me so that I can be filled with YOU, and YOU alone.

Praying all my family and friends have a great week.

Flooding Update

The flooding in our area is getting worse. I can't believe all the rain. Just today Powers was shut down from Barnes road to South Carefree and Galley from Powers to Academy. Gary had a meeting at church that was canceled because no one could get there.
The damage is evident all over the city and going north it gets worse.

We are going to Estes Park in October next year with my in laws, this is a picture of the road leading in. :(

Here is some information on the current conditions.

- 200 miles of affected area, including 15 counties
- 17,494 homes damaged, 1,502 destroyed
- 5 people confirmed dead, 1,253 reported missing
- 11,700 people evacuated
- 1,872 people staying in shelters

Please give to Convoy of Hope, they do amazing work through the country and have been prominent in disaster recovery.
On your donation you can specify Colorado Fire/Flooding relief.

Thank You Gevalia

Love my Keurig! I know you all know I have a thing for my coffee maker. It's hard for even me to believe this, but  it just got even better! The makers of Gevalia now make a two step cappuccino for the Keurig. Pure bliss!!

Yup!!

Lilly Time

Lilly was a little sad last night when I went to my moms without her. She was so sad she felt left out of girl time. This morning I tried to make up for it. So Lilly and I had coffee together. Hers was decaf of course!!
I truly love this little girl!

Flooding

I really don't know what to say about the flooding. I am shocked and saddened. People have died and the damage is evident in historical parts of town.
I am reminded if a beautiful woman I met several years ago after hurricane Katrina. This woman lost everything in that storm. She was beyond happy to be here in our beautiful city in the clouds. I will never forget her asking me why so many stores sell sand bags in the winter here.  I explained that we put sand bags in the trunks of our cars for extra weight, it helps to prevent the car from sliding on ice. She was terrified of water rising, and thought we had flooding here. I told her she would never had to worry about flooding a mile above sea level. I can't help but think of her. And pray she is safe. We have friends that drive that pass everyday we pray for their safety.
Our beautiful city has gone through so much. In light of the storm His light still shines so brightly on our beloved city.
God Bless.

I have discovered Pinterest

I have discovered Pinterest and I love it! It's clean fun!!
I am Jen Haynes! So find me!! I am having problems finding my family and friends!!

Ha! Her Face!!!

Last night while I was at my moms house Owen went to bed like a good kid and Lilly stayed up like Lilly usually does. Any who Gary found this praying mantis in his shop! The look on Lilly's face is priceless! He told her if she wants to stay up late she has to hold it!! She did!

A Milestone Party

Owen got to go to a birthday party this weekend that was for boys! Owen always  gets stuck at girls party's, not today! He had a great time at the superhero themed party with his friend Lavin from church. It was a really sweet party complete with an ice cream bar and costumes for all the boys!

All ready to go

Bud's

Les Miserables

My mom called me last night after church and asked if I wanted to watch Les Mis. What an amazing movie they did an extraordinary job moving this from stage to screen. The cast was fabulous! If you have a love of stage and history this movie is just spectacular!
Thanks mom we shall do it again!

Family Movie Night

Every Friday night in the Haynes house is Special Movie night! It's something we all look forward too. We order a pizza and watch a movie together downstairs in the movie room. We have really enjoyed the Buddy movies. They are sweet and those little dogs get in all kinds if trouble. This is the kind of tradition I hope lasts forever! I love that Lilly and Owen are quick to choose us. It's the way a family should be and we pray it stays this way. Lilly and Owen are so important, such a blessing and something so simple and small as movie night has a lot of power in it for making memories and keeping our family bond glued and tight. Training a child in the way they shall go is not easy. But I know and pray it will be so worth it!

Hiking We Shall Go

We did the loop at Garden of the Gods yesterday. The weather has been insanely beautiful. I left my phone in the car so I only have pictures of our short pit stop at the gift shop. Lilly needed some rocks for a science project and while she and Gary were looking at the rocks Owen and I snuck a piece of fudge in the parking lot! I also took a picture of this bad tree trying to change colors. :)

We have corn!

Lilly did a great job with her garden. We are all ready thinking about next year!

Singing in the Rain

Okay more like dip sticks in the rain!

Relax

Today has been such a nice relaxing Sunday. The kids and I ran a few errands early this morning while Gary was serving at church and we have since been at home hanging out. The kids are in the basement watching a movie, Gary is in the shop doing Gary stuff, and I am listening to the rain fall while enjoying a cup of coffee from my favorite Keurig!  Pure bliss!

Spring Break

I’m morning Spring Break... We had such a great time from movies to Denver and Salida. Thankful summer is right around the bend.
